Marine life along the shoreline attracts thousands of Pelicans, Sooty Shearwaters and 5 varieties of gulls; migrating whales and local otters and seals can be seen from several seaside parks maintained by the County.

Wild Mule Deer have no fear of man, and can be seen among the houses almost any day as can raccoons and occasional foxes; coyotes can be heard discussing the day's events from hill to hill at night.

Just 35 miles to the south is the little big town of San Luis Obispo. Home of a major California polytechnic university and an excellent community college. An Internationally acclaimed symphony orchestra performs locally and attracts world-class guest musicians to its annual Mozart Festival.

San Luis's Vocal Arts Ensemble has toured the world, but can be heard in Cambria; some of the singers even live here.

Cambria has a first-class little theatre, 3 banking institutions, a native and exotic plant nursery, tennis courts, a high school, middle school and grammar school, a real super market and an old fashion grocery store, 2 video shops, 2 hardware stores, book stores, 2 pharmacy's, several unique clothing stores, a weekly newspaper, gourmet restaurants, repair shops and more.
